I am always looking for ways to grow my skills in the creative world. This wonderful workshop held by David Ellingsen of Canada was very beneficial and made some excellent points. He presented a "Business Tool Kit". I have been a jewelry maker for the last ten years and a painter/mixed media for the past five or so years. I currently have many of these tools in my kit, but I wanted to pass them along for emerging artists. There is still room for improvement in these areas for myself.
1. Web Site...these can be simple to very complex, but David pointed out four areas you need to concentrate on to make it a good site. 1. images 2.the process showing how you make your work...photos or video 3. Detail in writing 4. Photos showing installation of your art work...perfect way to show scale
2. Resume
3. Business Cards...have them with you at all times
4. Take away cards...postcards or rackcards...to mail out
5. Artist Statement...why and how?
6. Work Inventory...size, price, medium(s)
7. Client Data Base
8. Instagram
9. The Pitch...three sentences about your work
Other areas are interior designers & art festivals
Hope you picked up at least one nugget you can use in your art promotion!
