Workshop with John Gholson

The workshop with artist, John Gholson, was very informative and fun! I learned not only a different way of painting, but several bits of knowledge that I can use in my mixed media projects. John is very talented. Here are some of his paintings as well as the project we were working on as a class.

Trinkets' Sea Glass Collection

Trinkets is pleased to announce, "The Sea Glass Collection", for spring, 2014. These wonderful colors of the ocean in unique designs will complement your favorite fashions. To purchase, go to www.trinketsjewelry.etsy.com

The inspiration for this collection...Sea glass is a metaphor for life. We start out whole and beautiful...but, we are also delicate and fragile. Just like sea glass, we are "tumbled" by life as the sea glass is "tumbled" by the waves.

In the process, we can become broken or the "tumbling" can polish us as we become precious jewels on our own individual path...God's perfect plan for our lives.

The Traveling Mermaids...Melinda, Melvina, Maria, & Mariella

The traveling mermaids, Melinda, Melvina, Maria, and Mariella...we are bound together not only by sisterhood but our sea glass necklaces.  The Trinkets' 21st Century classes at Clarke Central & Cedar Shoals High Schools in Athens, GA interviewed us, and they would like to share some of the qualities, details, and fun facts that make us special. It will also give you an idea of what we are like and an inkling of the adventures that will be shared as we start our travels.

Well, here we are as a group...Melinda, the baby, was the first to be interviewed.

My name is Melinda. I was born as a 70's child...I love to feel free and listen to the words of Mother Nature. I think my orange hair is my best feature, but I'll have to admit all my features are beautiful. Even though I am the youngest, the other mermaids have nothing on me. Driven by the angel inside me and growing up in the shadow of my oldest sister, Mariella, the first born, I spend a lot of my time devising plans to take my rightful place on the throne of my ancestors. As always, the baby of the family perceives the older ones as being, "bigger, stronger, and smarter". It's exhausting! My baby book is still incomplete...what does that tell you? Sometimes, I act like a bimbo, but deep down inside, I know I am the genius of the family. My other sisters are a little jealous...wishing they were like me.

Melvina..."the middle child" of the traveling mermaids

My name is Melvina. I so love seaweed...it's like the meaning of life to me...you can lie in it, mess with it, and use it in all types of salads. As the middle child in the family, I feel like I should just focus on myself...especially, my long golden locks.  My mother did not give me enough attention as a child; therefore, resulting in some narcissistic tendencies. I am now trying to work through some of these issues with meditation, painting, helping others...to name a few. At the moment, I still feel like no one understands me. Not only, do I love seaweed, but I am in love with the rest of the ocean as well. I'm kind of an "earth nut"...I don't want to say, "tree-hugger"...but, I am and my family just needs to deal with it! On a lighter note, I really hope that one day I can live in a castle of seaweed.
