New Angel Paintings Correspond with Stages of Life in Women

Rita Knight Art is pleased to offer new angels in The Angel Collection. These angels correspond with the different stages in the lives of women. The first is the Age of Attraction...this is the stage where the woman is trying to attract a mate or focusing on her career. The next is the Age of Attachment...this stage is a time of forming bonds with a mate, child, boss, or cause. The focus of these relationships is outward...placing the needs of others over the needs of self...nurturing a partner, child, friend or cause. Sometimes, the female "loses herself" in supporting these relationships. The Age of Cocooning...like the caterpillar spins a chrysalis around itself...women are looking within...a period of deep reflection...that emerges into a major renewal with a new sense of purpose. The Age of Breakthrough ...at this time, women begin to make life choices that serve our highest good, regardless
what others may think or want. We assume responsibility for our own needs & happiness.
Here are examples of the stages:

                                                                "Age of Attraction"
"Age of Attachment"...In this example, mother/daughter

Pearl Care Informatiom

These are a few tips on the best care for your pearls:

1.  Your pearls should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off...Because pearls are porous, they absorb oils, lotions, and perfumes that have harsh chemicals. Apply lotions or perfume 30 minutes before putting on your pearls.

2.  Remove your pearls before showering or swimming.

3.  To clean pearls, simply rub them gently with a soft cloth. No cleaning solvents should be used.

4.  Wear them!  The oils in your skin help your pearls maintain their luminous luster.

Pearl Qualities

When you are purchasing pearls, there are several qualities to keep in mind...

1.  Luster is the term used to describe the luminous quality of the pearl. The luminosity of a pearl is determined by the quality of the nacre that comprises the pearl, and reflects a unique glow from both the inside of the pearl as well as its surface.

2.  Blemishes mark the journey that the pearl endured while forming in the oyster and are completely natural, adding to the unique nature of each pearl and strand. While making the pearl unique, blemishes also contribute to its value.

3.  Due to their rarity, perfectly round pearls often indicate the most valuable pearls. From baroque to round to oval...all have their special look and the preference is up to the person. Pearls should be chosen in proportion to your body size...to complement you...not overpower you.

4.  Color is determined by the type of oyster that produces them, and contributes to the price. Akoya pearls are known for their white and pink tones. Tahitians are known for darker hues of titanium greys and deep blacks with tints of green. South Sea pearls range from bold whites to the rarest tone in the world: beautiful, rich gold.

Freshwater pearls are farmed in freshwater producing a wide variety of shapes and colors. They are less expensive than cultured pearls because of the quantity that can be produced from one mollusk. One mollusk can produce up to 40 pearls at one time compared to a South Sea oyster which produces one pearl. Natural color ranges from peach, lavender, white, and pink ranging from 3mm to 15mm.

Trinkets will be offering designs with a range of pearls including freshwater, Baroque, and 18K gold-plated designs with Kasumi Flameball pearls from Japan this holiday season. These beautiful and rare pearls have a tail that makes them look like a comet.

In my next entry, I will discuss how to best care for your pearls.

Pearls have a Legacy

Pearls have a legacy. Pearls do not begin their journey beautifully. A pearl is the result of a harsh irritant entering into an oyster, causing it pain and discomfort. After months or years, that irritant is covered again and again by layers of nacre, and over time, a pearl is formed.

This message translates into our lives...each person, formed by what they encounter during their journey of life, is unique. Not only does the oyster have to put up with the pain, but it also has to sacrifice its own health at times. Like the oyster, we have had times in our lives where we have experienced pain and suffering...disappointment and failure. Those seasons of life are not futile.
Beauty comes from ashes. The oyster's pain and suffering produces a pearl...no two are alike...all unique.

Pearls represent all the qualities we value and want to commemorate: integrity, virtue, honesty, and timelessness. Pearls are appropriate for any occasion and make us feel cherished.

A Journey of the Heart

I have been on a heart journey for the past few years...a journey that has taken me from brokenness to strengthening my relationship with God and helping me to "live in the now". We all have traumas in our lives, and we deal with them in different ways.

Denial seems to be the way I deal with most traumatic events. I think I learned this in childhood, and I have only "faced" the traumas of the past few years recently.

As time went on, I realized my creativity was playing a large part in my healing process. When I painted, it gave me the opportunity to take the focus off myself and what was happening in my life. It provided me with the opportunity to "not think" and stay in the moment. I was not thinking about the past or dwelling on the fear/anxiety that I was feeling about the future. God has opened doors through this creativity and also placed people in my life that were needed at the time for one reason or another.

God is faithful...He will see you through one step at a time. You must have faith as He will reveal His plan for your life. Surrender to Him and be prayerful. He will give you strength, discernment, and guidance on a daily basis if you cultivate a relationship with Him and talk with Him. Put your trust in Him.

The painting of my angels gave me such joy! They have also been a source of healing & love for others. At times, I can feel God working through me as I paint. My Bible Art Journal which I started in January, 2016 has given me the opportunity to dig deeper into God's Word. It draws me closer to Him.

God has a purpose for our lives! I am continuing my journey with daily gratitude and prayer. Our faith should be anchored in His promises. He will never leave you, and you are never alone.

I am delighted to take another step...a leap of faith...with my new studio, The Cottage. God has great things planned, and I hope to share this journey with you!

Home Decor/Art Trends for 2017

I love color! Research has shown that color plays a big role in healing. From magazines and the columns of top designers, I see the trend continuing for the remainder of 2017 with the primary color of lime green. Plants especially the rubber plant is making a return. Pottery which has never really taken a leave is becoming more popular along with beige trends in furniture. Jewelry trends are showing many initial items including earrings with initials. Celine jewelry among others has captured this trend with their bamboo initial earrings. Trinkets also has their version of the initial earrings with the small initials on 18K gold-plated hoops...reasonably priced at $28...www.trinketsjewelry.etsy.com

Pottery is always welcome in home decor trends
